Ostar weather

After the gentle start of the first day, this morning i seem to have
fallen in true Ostar training mode, the weather is what they tell you
about, low after low, wind and rain, a jolly place to spend your
holidays. The first low i had passed in the middle of the night, a very
weak low with small winds, but i had to fight through its centre where
the wind become cyclonic and drove me crazy.
The second low had south westerlies, westerlies, fronts and rain, like
in the books, but no nice skies came after as there is another secondary
low approaching so the wind has kept up all the time. I had up to 30 kts
apparent for a while otherwise it's been low twenties.
This means that I had enough weather to bash a bit and even when the
wind dropped and backed i was beam reaching straight into the old sea
with great crashes and waves breaking over the deck and occasionally
pouring a bit down the companion way.
The new low i'll get tomorrow is meant to be a wee stronger but
hopefully nothing too nasty.
I guess this is exacly why i came out here training, trying to go west
through the lows and fronts is just what will happen for the first two
or three weeks of Ostar, and now, by going along 50N i'm getting a feel
of it. So far so good, a little uncomfortable earlier today but probably
because i still need a few more days to get accustomed to things at sea
and the motion.

Ok, time for a look around and a nap.

Ciao,

Marco.
