Hi All
The sailing is near perfect. Blue skies and warm. A near constant 15kt wind.
8kts speed and on course. Been like this for hours. Apart from the clear
night sky with a crystal clear view of the stars the conditions have been
like this since yesterday.
Looking at the positions is adding some tension here. The top few boats are
changing ranking frequently and the difference between us all is getting
smaller. Apart from Will in Elmarleen who retains his lead - go Will go.
La Promesse is slowly reducing the difference to Jbellino.
All I can do is set the boat up on course. Trim the sails and watch the
speed increase to max. I can fiddle and change settings but these conditions
are so steady all I do is re-trim and lose some speed before putting all
settings back where they were.
Oh for another half a knot. In Startrek Kirk ordered more power and Scotty
provided it with the warning 'She's in the red Captain, she can't take it..'
I wonder what thoughts JanKees has - not a lot different I expect. All this
sailing over all this distance and it will likely come down to which of us
sits in the light winds longer.
