After the excitement of ice bergs yesterday, today has seen us finally leave the area of all known ice and the water temperature has shot up from 6 degrees to 18 degrees. Today has been similar to trade wind sailing with a very pleasant sailing day with moderate winds from behind.
I have taken the opportunity to have a good tidy up with a day of domestic routines. We seem more than OK for supplies probably due to the "Quixote style" pre-race shopping expedition(s) without the aid of a list. I could probably feed the crew of a Volvo 870. I stopped counting when I reached 70 chocolate bars left and I claim diplomatic immunity for the supply of chocolate biscuits.
More importantly, earlier today we passed the 1,000 milestone and will speed through the 900 mile mark during the night which is excellent progress. 900 miles is still the equivalent of 1.5 Fastnet races. Every day is different and most present challenges. Banjaard and I continue to focus on the job in hand and cope with things one day at a time.
