Hannah White has put in an amazing performance on the water completing the ostar 2009 in 20 days and 22 minutes and from the very start gathering a tremendous following from the public who eagerly awaited her blog updates, so vivid with the highs and lows typical of Offshore Solo Sailing.

Hannah was voted the public's favourite skipper in OSTAR 2009 followed by Will Sayer in second place and Barry Hurley in third.

Her blogs brought us the excitement of surfing downwind at high speeds, the fears during a storm, the stress of crossing the iceberg limit, the panic of gear failure, the joy of watching playful dolphins, the emotional turmoil that comes with completing this fantastic race, the numbness that crossing the line brings, a sense of subdued joy, a lingering sense of emptyness through a mind drained by the hardship of the trip, followed slowly by the growing sense of pride and achievement.

The blogSTAR prize, which will be presented to Hannah at the official prize giving at the end of October in Plymouth, is the first of its kind in the sailing world. Created by Jamorph.com with the specific goal of acknowledging that unique ability that an offshore solo sailor must today possess to inspire the reader, bring excitement, joy, drama and ultimately create a bond with the very public without whom sponsored sailing could not exist.

Hannah has definitely proven that she is a very capable sailor, crossing the Atlantic solo and nearly setting a new record in her class of boat while sharing her story and becoming the public's favourite skipper in OSTAR 2009.

We hope that the blogSTAR prize marks a new beginning of opportunities for Hannah, opening the eyes of those sponsors out there that are looking for that perfect combination of skills required to succeed as a modern day sportswoman.

Thank you for sharing your story with us, this atlantic crossing with be with you for the the rest of your life, and it has been with the public who could so vividly imagine what it was like through reading your words.
