A View from the Land.

Rudi as Leonardo PS 400.jpg

Soon after 00 12 Monday 24th May 2009 when all the skippers head west I shall be sitting in my warm, dry, motionless study following the action on the Tracker and posting my comments on the race so far.

Jerry Freeman has led many people down paths they didn't realise they wanted to go and it was he who got me into photographing and reporting on short handed racing. First was the Shetland Round Britain and Ireland Race followed by the Round the Isle of Wight Race, the bluQube 1000 and the Artemis Transat. Photographs of some of these can be seen at www.rudipolednik.co.uk

My racing was fully crewed round the cans. I did race my boat Brandy Bottle fully crewed Around Bitain and Ireland as well as a Fastnet. Then my wife and I bought a boat in the Mediterranean and became dedicated cruisers.

I'll be in Plymouth on Saturday to photograph those last minute preparations and hopefully get some good photographs of the start.
