What Barry's supporters may have lacked in numbers they certainly made up for in volume. As he motored out of the marina the Irish song blasted out of the sound systems and the chant of "Barry! Barry!" echoed back off the clubhouse.
When our RIB came up to him after the start the same song came across the water but his mother drowned that out. "Barry! Barry!"
"Who's Barry?" I shouted.
"That's my son!" she boomed in her Irish accent.
His sister held the Irish tricolour aloft at the shrouds while Dad smiled and went along with everything.
The wind still looks to be SSW but may go into the S or SE by midnight. The front should start to pass over the fleet midnight on Friday and after that things should go a little flat. There is another low out at 42W but it looks as if this may pass to the south of them.
