Franco Manzoli's course, Winner of OSTAR 2005 in 17 days, 21 hours and 41 minutes.
Trying to guess actual crossing times for an OSTAR is probably a futile exercise, the variables are too many, wind conditions will favour some boats and penalise others that might have otherwise done well, the ice limit will dictate how far south the skippers will dip at the Grand Banks adding miles to the shourtest course and the light airs from the Grand Banks to the end could have a skipper stuck for several days will little or no progress.
However, every skipper will have his own target crossing time in mind. With too little info on each boat to make any serious calculations I've come up with the following target days for each one (not to be taken too seriously! We'll let the North Atlantic decide how accurate these guesses really are).

I just can’t help myself.
I just can’t help myself. Reality is shit! I live in two worlds one that’s in my head and its story that been running for what seems like two universes http://www.frogmix.com/search/universe , and then there is my life. My life does not seem like my life at all
I would be realy pleased
I would be realy pleased with a crossing of 26 days!!
(But I'm afraid it's a bit optimistic...)
Bart
Don’t underestimate the
Don’t underestimate the awesome power and superior speed of the 1980’s David Thomas classic – The Super Sigma 33 (Cruising Version). Elmarleen is sure to leave everything under 40 ft standing still……ha ha.
My target is 30 days – but I will be happy with just making it across.
Will
27 days is a good guess! In
27 days is a good guess! In 1986 it took 26 Days and 9 hours to sail across the Atlantic for my Boat FANFAN! in the TWOSTAR.
good to know... it's so
good to know... it's so difficult to produce meaningful numbers.
IF ANNE CASENEUVE CROSSES
IF ANNE CASENEUVE CROSSES THE LINE AFTER 17 DAYS THEN SHE WILL HAVE CRUISE ACCROSS.
50ft Multi hull record
50ft Multi hull record stands at 16d 12 hours... if she crosses in under 17 days she'd be in for a new record?
