A day of boredom

Anyone that knows me already could have confirmed it, but I feel I need to let you all know... I'm definitely not a Monica. While bluQube started off as a tidy and organised ship, with different boxes for different items (categorised) and a different bag for a different week of clothes, food lovingly separated into daily rations, ordered so that there was NO repetition from day 4 to day 5, after sixteen days at sea, the order and organisation has been lost. If Monica Gellar were on board now, she would have a fit. My oilies and wet clothes are spewed randomly in the sun on the coack roof, the ropes are coiled, but not to the same length, there is damp pitta bread on bulkheads and deck heads (the aftermath of dreaded day thirteen - that day will get a daily mention till the end of the trip).

I was lying on my beanbag reminiscing about the 5pm showings of Friends on E4, and then the repeat on E4+1 (yes, I did occasionally watch both episodes twice) and I think I had a Monica moment. Now bluQube is in the throes of a complete tidy. Biodegradable stuff has been sacrificed to the deep and non biodegradable stuff has been bin bagged. If someone could arrange for a wheely bin to be on the pontoon when I arrive, that would be fabulous. Numerous dried apricots have been found drowned - swollen and bloated and not at all pleasant to fish off bluQube. Could it BE any more disgusting to be absolutely honest, mid tidy I have lost the inspiration and am now having a mid tidy snackette and blog update.

Having read the Ship Captains Medical Guide (22nd edition) from cover to cover (there are some pretty gruesome diseases out there) I have now taken to writing lists. List of things to fix (a VERY long one), list of stuff do do when I get back, lists of objectives to achieve before I die. Lists of more comfortable boats I could have done the OSTAR in. Tonight I will write a list of all the food I want to eat in Newport.

On the sailing front, we have had a very productive 24 hours with an average speed of about 6 knots, which is very pleasing. There doesn't appear to be any horrific weather on the horizon before finish day (Sunday night/Monday morning) and my routing software reckons I have less than 700 miles left. After emergency discussions with my supplies coordinators it seems there is a lack of shampoo on board.... I will be a fairy baby when I arrive.

In other news... I am fiendishly addicted to Spider Solitaire on the computer, am seriously missing strawberry Yazoos, and even tinned sliced peaches of which I have eaten the last tin. Thank god the end is in sight.

Morale on board is still pretty high, except for Lumpy who contracted some sort of soggy, wet paper infested disease. After consulting the Ship Captains Medical Guide it seems a dry in the sun and a wash are in order. His condition thankfully is not serious.

Onwards to Newport

Sounds as if cabin fever has

Sounds as if cabin fever has finally set in.

The shampoo is tied to the forestay as an incentive remember? So no need to resort to fairy liquid just yet.
Besides you dont want foam up in a rain shower smelling alpine fresh.
Keep dancing as if no one is watching and start practising from your Team America phrase book.

Sail fast, Sail safe!

We'll have shampoo and champagne on the quay for you.
Don't muddle them up or you may need the Ship Captains Medical Guide again.

Not far now - keep going.

Stay safe.
