Well the weather has started to settle and last night and today were almost pleasant! 7-8 knots in almost the right direction! A large part of me is really hoping that the weather stays like this, but the realistic part is laughing right back in my face!!
I had my first major disaster today when the girly chick flick I as reading (Sophie Kinsella - remember me - v funny) was found floating face down in a pool of water. Typically the book was far from finished and its avid reader was just reaching a moment of climatic drama. I will now spend the next few days, or weeks even (!) wondering what on earth happened to Lexi and her memory. It is now that I call for laminated books... I have now progressed onto the next book 'dear Fatty' - by Dawn French, and now I am on high book suicide alert. I can honestly say I would arrive in Nwwport in a less than satisfactory condition if I had made the trip having read only the first half of every book I have on board.
Even in the lighter condition like today, we still get a fair amount of water coming over the boat and into the cockpit. As such, in an effort to stay dry, I find myself staying below for large majorities of time. Alas, given that I spend about 4 hours a day bailing out water I might actually be drier sitting outside. Still, I must take heart. I know Oscar is struggling with water, and I can't forget that Clare Francis spent half her time watching water pour in and the other half bailing it out. Perhaps I will fit another bilge pump in Newport, of the electric and moveable kind, for the delivery trip back.
So the next few days look lighter still and is an opportunity for me to eat and sleep as well as dry out bluQube down below. A good opportunity to fix a few minor breakages as well.
Sorry no pics I don't think unless I figure out how to reduce the resolution on my camera which may work. will let you know
