After the miserable day sanding i had one bit of equipment to test that made the day.
I watched one of the many movies that my friend luca gave me for the trip. I'm only expecting to watch one once in a while but it's good to have a choice and for once hard disk memory doesnt weight anything.
I made some transparent splash screens for the companion way, left and right side and to replace the washboard in light conditions or when it rains. They all look excellent and should keep the boat a little dryer, i spent a tenner in materials and about an hour to make them, i was quoted 250 to have them made! Sod it i thought. Last year in the qualifier i realised i needed them as lots of splashes of water kept getting to the chart table, on the pilot berth, onto the galley, not ideal.
I also covered the chart table with a transparent sheet that can be lifted, charts or papers that i'm reading can be kept protected...
The job list is finally getting shorter rather than longer. If the rain stops and i antifoul tomorrow i'll only be left with a couple of minor things. the biggest task will be to start thinking about the food, i dont want any dried rubbish, it doesnt weight less as you still need to add water and i dont have a water maker so i dont see the point. I'm not a fussy eater but i think having nice meals to look forward to will be an important part of keeping the mood up.
The wind is still strong but i'll better catch some sleep, it's a long day tomorrow...
