Please keep veering, just this once

Without a spinnaker and just an assymetric on board i found myself
sailing higher than the rest of the fleet, pushing me uwillingly north
of the rhumb line and in a tricky position to steer for Nantucket
shoals, it's dead downwind for the whole of us. So far the speed has
been better sailing higher hence i have not lost anything to FanFan and
Tamarind, just, i'm in a different place now. But, there is a glimmer of
hope, the wind has veered and i can just, just hold a meaningful course
on the other tack... i.e. i gybed to port tack, probably the only one in
the fleet, but being the furthest north I have a sligtly better angle.
So, if the wind keeps veering, and i dont have a forecast that says so,
I would find myself in a sweet position. If the wind backs instead I'll
be so stuffed that Merv will be able to display me in his living room
like an african safari trophy.

Oh well, dont you love the excitement? Just 162 miles to go... I would
need wind to beat jbellino, as i have to be finished in 30 hours, which
at the moment is highly unlikely, when your speed is 3-4 max 5kt and not
even straight on course...
