I have a radar on a pole
I have a radar on a pole (3m) and one installed in the mast (7m). The Sea-Me is mounted on the mast (17m) and is activated by both! I guess due to reflection of the mast. I don't care because while using the radar I need the Sea-Me only the be seen...
Fair sailing!

Hi Marco I have Seame at the
Hi Marco
I have Seame at the masthead and radar on the mast. I can operate both at the same time with no problem. Maybe its because they have direct vertical separation?

Interesting... if you have
Interesting... if you have the radar on a scanstrut pole at the pushpit and the sea-me at masthead it interferes, in your case i guess the forestay and shrouds do not reflect sufficiently to trigger the sea-me (they are also angled so the reflection should go down not up).
I'm not a fan of mast installations, if you dismast you'll be left with no sea-me and no radar... I dismasted last summer and was very happy to lose nothing other than the mast and sails.
can you say how high the
can you say how high the pole is please?
is it a stock radar post or special made
are the welds argon shield or colegate?
The pole was made to be just
The pole was made to be just high enough so that it would clear the radar, it is custom made, £70 by a welder in Plymouth, the attachement that fits the sea-me was cut from a standard stock mount and welded on the pole. I dont know the difference between argon shields and colegate welds so cant answer that question...
As Frits points out, regardless of where you fit the sea-me, it will always be activated by the reflection of the radar beam on rigging, mast, etc so you cant use them together any way. The only reason why you want the sea-me to clear the radar is that on the instruction manual it say that a close range direct beam could damage the sea-me.
Hello Marco, I have mount it
Hello Marco,
I have mount it on the same manner, also above the Furuno. When the Furuno is working the Seame give a alarm. So you can use only the Radar or the Seame. It will not work together. So or the Radar or the Seame I turn one of the two systems off.
But when you mount the Seame in the top of the mast, you have the same problem.
All the Best,
Frits
