Class40: Marco Nannini will be at the Route du Rhum with UniCredit

The Italian born UK based skipper has announced his entry in the Route du Rhum 2010 on his Akilaria Class 40 which will be renamed “UniCredit” for the race following a recent sponsorship agreement.

Marco Nannini who works for UniCredit London Branch won his class at the 2009 OSTAR Single-handed Transatlantic race and was second overall at the recent Shetland Round Britain and Ireland race. He has now entered the Route du Rhum 2010, the French classic transatlantic single-handed offshore race, 3600 miles from St Malo in France to Point-a-Pitre in Guadalupe starting on October 31st later this year.

Nannini will race on his recently acquired Akilaria Class 40 which will be renamed “UniCredit” for this race in recognition of the support received from his employer in the preparations for this challenge.

“Taking part in the Route du Rhum will be tremendous opportunity, racing for the first time along with the French masters. Class 40 will be the most exciting to follow, with 35 confirmed entries already, 10 more than in 2006, really fantastic.” – commented Marco.
